Why APPI: 

Manufacturing and production downtime can quickly erode a company’s bottom line. Johnson Timber Corporation faced repeated downtime events due to crooked logs getting jammed in their wood chipper. Initially, they used a manual block-and-tackle arrangement to clear the jams, which was time-consuming, difficult, and dangerous for their employees.

Seeking a better solution, Jim Walcisak, Johnson Timber’s VP of Manufacturing, contacted Allied Power Products, Inc. (APPI). After a thorough review of their application requirements, APPI recommended the Columbia HD2000-1A34-L-01 AC Electric Hoist, specifically designed to handle the demanding task of clearing log jams.

The Columbia HD2000 log hoist features a line pull of 2,000 pounds on the first layer and a line speed of 8 feet per minute, providing ample power and speed to efficiently remove jammed logs. The hoist is equipped with a wire rope tension plate to ensure proper rope spooling and Quick Mount Brackets for easy installation and relocation.
