Why APPI: As part of a waste water treatment construction project, Hawaii American Water needed two AC electric winches that could be integrated into an automated sludge bin positioning system.
After reviewing the plans for the area where the sludge bins were located, it was decided to use two of our Columbia WG11000 AC electric winches mounted at right angles to the line of pull for the bins. When installed, the line goes from the winch, through our AutoAdvance line spooler and then to a horizontal lead sheave. The lead sheave is positioned using a special mounting system that allows it to be moved from side-to-side to align properly with bins of different widths.
The control box was supplied with contacts that allow the end-user’s PLC to control the movement of the winches.
