Customer: DNow
Location: Corpus Christi, TX
Hoist Model: Columbia HG2750-P-02 Pneumatic Hoist
Performance Based On 70 PSI @ 75 SCFM:
Line Pull: 2,750 pounds on the first layer
Line Speed: 17.6 feet per minute on the first layer
Wire Rope Capacity: 198 feet x 3/8″ wire rope with latching hook

Why APPI: As is easy to imagine, working in a Liquified Natural Gas terminal is constantly challenging with a never-ending focus on safety so in this environment, pneumatic power for tools and equipment is a first choice.

When Cheniere Energy told Melissa Molsbee, MTS Inside Sales Lead for Distribution NOW in Corpus Christi, TX, they needed three air tuggers to lift equipment to a fin fan deck platform in their LGN plant, she contacted us.

Based on their performance requirements, we provided our Columbia HG2750-P-02 pneumatic hoists with 15 foot long hand-held pendant controls to provide operator mobility. With one ton of lift for up to 100 feet and an average line speed of 20 feet per minute these were a perfect fit for this application.

Application: Trade show display hoists
Customer: World leader in the recreational boat market
Location: Mettawa, IL
Hoist Model: Dual Columbia HG5600-2A17-L-02 AC Electric Hoists
Performance:
Line Pull: 5,600 pounds on the first layer
Line Speed: 7.7 feet per minute on the first layer
Special Features: Custom control system to operate two hoists in unison, Handheld pendant control with up/down momentary contacts and a Hoist A/B/both switch on a 15’ lead, Cable tension plate
Power Source: 230 VAC / Three phase / 60 Hz

Why APPI: When a leading manufacturer of recreational boats, marine engines, marine parts and accessories wanted to attract attention at shows by adding motion to a boat on display, one of their engineers contacted us for assistance.

The concept presented was for a “cradle” that held the boat with an AC electric hoist that would roll a boat secured to it to 21 degrees negative and then bring it back to level with intermediate stops where it would be mechanically locked in position.

After discussing the advantages and disadvantages of a single hoist versus a dual hoist configuration, a two hoist system was specified. In addition to determining how to control the two hoists to ensure they worked in tandem, application details about how to achieve proper line spooling were discussed and implemented into the final design.

Although there was minimal lead time before the first show that using the display was scheduled, we were able to expedite the order in time for launching the new display as planned.

Please contact us if you would like more information about these trade show display hoists or any of our other products and services.

Why APPI: The SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is a 200 foot sailing vessel operated by a non-profit of the same name out of Newport, Rhode Island. She is the first full-rigged sailing ship to be built in the U.S. in over 100 years and in addition to being an eye-catcher she is the real deal among sailboats with over 7 miles of rigging and the ability to fly up 14,000 square feet of sail.

After doing their due diligence the design engineering firm working with “OHP” agreed with the captain that we were the best source for their dinghy hoists. The units, as supplied, were designed to accommodate the weather conditions they will encounter along with features such as manual operation of the hoists in power out situations.

Why APPI: When you are faced with a nearly endless line of trucks – each carrying multiple tons of potatoes – the ability to unload them quickly and gently is of paramount importance. For those in that position, Mayo Manufacturing and their Evenflow offloading system has proven to be a reliable choice.

With this system the spuds are off-loaded using a conveyor boom equipped with proximity sensors to keep it close enough to the potatoes as they pile up to avoid drop damage yet high enough to keep it from becoming clogged.

Jared Schultz, project manager for Mayo, came to us for an electric hoist to eliminate any chance of hydraulic contamination, and based on the lift distance and mounting restrictions, selected one of our Columbia HG3700 AC electric hoists with a 4” wide strap to position the boom.

The compact size, automatic brake and industrial quality are all features that made this conveyor boom hoist an ideal match to Mayo’s needs.

Please contact us if you would like more information about this particular conveyor boom hoist system or any of our other products and services.
