Why APPI: Rae Shipyard builds and repairs barges and ships in their large facility on the Gulf of Mexico. When they were awarded a bid to build a new vessel for Puerto Rico Fast Ferries, one of our Columbia HL6000 AC electric hoists with marine duty upgrades was specified by Glowacki Engineering to handle the boarding ramp.
Josie Melancon, manager for RAE Shipyard, contacted us to procure the ferry ramp hoist. We were pleased to receive this order as it’s now the second Columbia HL6000 being used by Puerto Rico Fast Ferries. The first one was installed in 2012 and has performed flawlessly since then.
