Why APPI:

The customer requirements were extreme: Two units were needed, each with a single line pull capacity of 200,000 lbs., capable of pulling heavy equipment up slopes of up to 50% and safely lowering them down those same slopes with inching capability. Additionally, the systems had to be transportable as complete units on a single trailer and operate across a temperature range from -40°F to +60°F.

Through comprehensive discussions and analysis, the customer and APPI jointly developed a solution that would meet these challenging requirements. Together, they focused on three critical areas:

  1. Electrical systems specifically matched to the jobsite conditions, with 460 VAC power compatibility and comprehensive environmental protection
  2. Mobility features designed for efficient transportation, including a skid-mounted design with integrated operator station and climate control
  3. Advanced wireless control systems providing precise operation with extended range capabilities

The implementation of these heavy equipment recovery winch systems has delivered significant operational improvements:

  • 50% reduction in equipment recovery time
  • Enhanced safety through remote operation capabilities
  • Improved precision in equipment positioning
  • Reliable performance in extreme weather conditions
  • Reduced maintenance requirements through robust design
