Why APPI:  The need to lift the 3,000 pound door on one of their industrial ovens level lead Steven Ulik, a project engineer at International Thermal Systems, to select one of our Columbia HF4700 AC electric hoists for the task.  In addition to meeting his requirements for line pull, line speed and lifting distance, the planetary reduction, automatic load holding brake, compact size and low maintenance requirements made it an ideal fit for his application.

The need to keep the oven door level when being lifted at two points was resolved by using a single line from the hoist which connects to a master link with two lines.  Those lines are guided by two sheaves up one side of the oven door and then over the door to a pair of sheaves over the pick point on each side of the door.  A tension plate is installed on the drum to help prevent the wire rope from bird nesting when the door is closed and there is no load on the line.

An inverter duty brake motor was provided to work with the ITS-designed control system which includes a variable frequency drive to provide adjustable line speed and line pull.
